We adopted Emma in January of 2009. Even though she's missing an eye, she gets around like any other dog.
She's queen of the house and even went on a family vacation to California. Here are pictures of her on vacation and with Willy and Chey, two other Adopt-A-Pet friends. Willy lives with our daughter in California, she was adopted 6 years ago and Chey lives in Moorhead. Emma has been a great addition to our family.

We adpoted Donatello and Pumpkin in May of 2009. We broke the rules by renaming them Ole and Lena. The names seemed to fit and they responded to them right away. It's possible they would respond to any names but they were very comfortable with the gradual change. We are very grateful to Adopt-A-Pet and the foster homes where they lived for making life so good for them and socializing them so well. They are great with other people and pets. Our old dog Chester was recently put to rest and they looked for him for a few days but are fine now. We have traveled with them a couple of times and Lena never stops talking and Ole just chills out. She doesn't seem stressed - just vocal. They are very comfortable in a different setting and explore the houses, find their food and water and the litter. Good cats!! They love sitting in our windows watching the bird feeders and their favorite chipmunk. Lena tries to attack, but the screen always stops her. Ole just likes to watch. They meet us at the door for attention when we have been gone and are ever present when we are home. Thank you again for all your good work and for our great new feline friends.

We adopted Charlie when he was about 7 months old. He was very shy and extremely submissive at first, especially around males. Over the past three months he has become increasingly comfortable with males he has met several times and continues to improve around strangers. He is such a sweetheart, he loves to give kisses and cuddle on the couch. He has become the perfect playmate for our 1 year old beagle. They immediately took to each other and have become best friends. He loves to chew on bones, play in the backyard with Ace, our Beagle, and
cuddle on the couch. He is quite the gentleman and everyone who meets him instantly falls in love, his nickname is Mister because he is just so sweet and gentle. Charlie had a problem with submissive urination when he first came to us and has continuously improved over the past several months. We absolutely adore him and he was the perfect addition to our family. He is extremely loyal and protective of me and follows me almost everywhere I go. I’m so glad that we took the time to find a dog that would fit our lifestyle because Charlie is a perfect fit. He had brought a lot of joy to our lives over the past three months and I couldn’t imagine our family without him now. Thank you so much for bringing Charlie into our life, we love him very much.

I adopted Benji in Oct., 2007. He was 5 mos. old. This is my second adoption from Adopt-a-pet. They are all so great there. God Bless those volunteers and their dedication. I love him dearly! We do everything together. He is so special, however he does get into mischief occasionally. This is a picture of him getting into the potato sack. He loves to eat anything, especially veggies. I came home one noon and caught him in the act of eating this. He perches on each day everyday to watch the neighborhood activity and actually brought this potato up there to chew on. Doesn't he look guilty?? Ha! Just thought I would share it with you, because he's so funny sometimes. Thanks again to Adopt-a-Pet for allowing me to adopt Benji.

We adopted Izzy (black) in March of this year and Shilo (gold) in the fall of 2004. Shilo came to us after living in an apartment eating cat food and Izzy came to us after almost losing her life to starvation and cold. They have been wonderful additions to our family. They have become wonderful friends and are inseparable. We live in the country and they love to run and play, lay in the sun, and play with our cats. They are both so loving and add so much joy to our lives. It is so much fun to watch our kids care for and play with them. To see them so happy and healthy fills us with so much satisfaction. Adopt-a-pet is the only way we will ever acquire pets in the future. Thank you for bringing so much happiness to our lives.

Thank you for choosing our family to adopt Merlin. He is such a wonderful dog who fits into our family life perfectly. We hope to enjoy many years with Merlin and will make Adopt-A-Pet our first choice in the future.
Jacob (age 8) -I like Merlin because he cuddles with me. He is soft and cute. He is easy to teach. He doesn’t bite, except for his chew toys. Merlin is a great friend and he sleeps on my bed every night. Thank you Adopt-A-Pet! Nicholas (age 11) -I like Merlin because he’s a great dog. I think he’s a great dog because he’s smart, friendly, and playful. Also, he fits right in with our family. -Jayme, Anne, Nicholas and Jacob |

We adopted Rocky in January of 2008. He had been in foster care with Dawn for 6 months before we got him, and she did a wonderful job of nurturing him back to health. He was a very timid and nervous little boy when he first came to our home. We have another
Chihuahua named Buddy, and they fast became brothers and best of friends. Their favorite past time is to lay together on the lounge chair in the summer months sunning themselves. They are
inseparable now and us with them. Thank you Adopt-a-Pet for making our lives happier. Rocky loves his new family and we all love him. (Rocky is brown and Buddy is tan and white).

This is a new addition…Penny Lane. Her adopt a pet name was Shea. She is one of the 6 lab cross puppies that was brought to adopt a pet. She is so sweet and fits in nicely with our other adopt a pet lab we got a few years ago…Kramer. She is a nice addition. Thanks adopt a pet for all the great work you do in sharing wonderful animals.
Sincerely, Stacy, mike, jack, Kramer, Rick, Connie, and Rudy |
| We adopted Darby in August 2007. From day one she was part of our family. We lost our beloved Shelby (Sheltie) in May of that year and Darby brought joy back into a quiet house. Darby right away wanted to please and is an unconditional soul. I believe that she is "applying for the job" everyday. She is awesome with children, and enjoys chasing her big, little sister Betsy Lou. She has turned out to be a 82 pound lap dog! Without Adopt A Pet Darby would never have been brought into our lives.

When our Lasa-poo Abby passed away in July, we decided to adopt a rescue dog. While looking at adoption sites my wife sent me a picture of Curly from the FM adopt a pet site. Once I saw Curly’s picture I knew he was the one we were looking for. Curly is such a wonderful and loving boy. When we get home he is so excited to see us he almost cries. He loves to take walks and was sleeping with us the very first night that we brought him home. He is well behaved and only chews his toys and bones. We think he is a wirehaired dachshund. As you can see from the picture we had taken at the Crookston Humane Society before Halloween, he is a very handsome boy! We are so lucky to have found Curly. Thanks to Adopt-a-pet FM for giving us the opportunity to adopt our Curly.

We adopted Elsa in March of 2008. She has quickly become one of our family. She is an excellent dog and a wonderful addition to our home. Many thanks to her foster mom Linda and to everyone at Adopt A Pet. We feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to raise this loving dog!

Houston came into our lives in November of 2007. He couldn't
have came at a better time, a month after we lost my father
to a termial illness. He is now my moms companion, which we
all appreciate so much! He has brought endless amounts of joy
to our entire family, often going on sleep-overs to my sisters
house to play with her three children. He is happy to play with
the neighbor dog, daily, and they have become inseperable. It
does get confusing at times seeing as they are both black labs!
Houston came to us weighing a hefty 120 pounds and we are proud
to say that after going on nightly runs out in the country he
is now down to 87 pounds! We are still in touch with Barb, Houston's
foster mom and have built quite the friendship with her as well.
Thank you adopt a pet for all the hard work you do! We don't
know what we would do without Houston! -The Gould Family more pictures: 1 |

We got Annabelle, formerly known as Jelly Bean(gray tortoise
shell), in December 2007. She has been such an awesome addition
to our family! We weren't sure how our 3 year old cat would
do with a new kitten, and, in turn, we weren't sure how the
new kitten would do with our energetic dog! It took a couple
of weeks, but they act like they've been together since the
beginning! Our older cat became more active, playing, snuggling,
and bathing Annabelle. Our dog loves to play with her too, and
they will often find a nice spot to snuggle in for a nap. We
were a little worried about Annabelle after her 'fixin'' surgery.
Her incision became infected and she needed 2 antibiotics to
get over it. She was a sick little kitty for a couple weeks
and hated her Elizabethan collar. But who likes them anyway?
Soon after, she was back to her normal self. She is definitely
the "naughty" one, and even taught our older cat some new tricks.
Who knew ripping open bags of raw noodles or rice would be so
fun? Especially when it makes a big mess in the kitchen! We
just wanted to thank adopt-a-pet for all they do, and helping
us to find a pet that is such a wonderful fit with all of us.
Thank you! Bill, Danis, Annabelle, Penelope, and Alfie more pictures: 1, 2 |

We have had Belle since October 15, 2005. She is our baby,
that is for sure. She is my husband's best friend by far, Belle
just LOVES him!! She is so good with kids also. We have friends
that have a little boy Maddax and Belle lets him crawl all over
her. We also recently got a part-time foster child Ethan and
he just LOVES Belle also. Belle has totally been a blessing
for us and has personally made my life happier!! Thank you for
all of the hard work that you do. We will be getting our pets
from Adopt-A-Pet in the future for sure!! Candi & Brian more pictures: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, |

Here are some photos of me and
my mom and some more photos of just me:
1, 2,
3. I am sooooo happy in my new home! Please spread
the news! I wish more people would adopt pets just like me. There are lots of pets waiting for good homes where we can feel safe and loved. Puppies don't belong on the streets looking for food and shelter. My mom lets me snuggle in close to her at night. I feel so safe now! She takes me on walks, for rides to the DQ for a bit of ice cream, and plays ball with me. I love to chase rabbits and birds, and I love to try to catch fish. My mom brushes my curly ears, brushes my teeth, gives me warm showers...but most of all she just loves me! I'm so glad she picked me! -Jake |

Thank you so much Adopt a Pet for our wonderful dog Allie, formerly known as Milly! She has been a wonderful adition to our family and stays very busy with her 2 brothers, our cats Hunter and Hank whom she loves to play with and chase all over, and her sister/best friend Ariel which is our Keeshond that is also a rescue. She was a perfect match with us, and we look forward to a long life with her! Dan, Tawnia, Jordan, Ariel, Hunter, Hank, and Allie! |

We adopted Riley about 2 years ago . I can not say how much
we love him and how much joy and laughter he has brought to
our lives. I don't know what we would do with out him. He is
a happy go lucky dog with the greatest personality you could
ever imagine. He is loves to play in the snow, hunt, chase the
cats around the house and of course sleep in his King size bed!
Here are a few pictures of our little pride and joy! I would
like to thank all of you that helped us out on finding our little
buddy! Tina, Chris & Jade More pictures: 1 2 |

After our Persian cat passed away, our Siamese cat, Simon,
became very lonely. We decided to adopt Chase (formally Amos)
at Petco during Adoption days. At first Simon didn't know what
to think of this little kitty who kept bugging him, but by the
second day they were best friends. Chase was just what Simon
needed. They are inseparable!! He has been a nice addition to
our family. We are also thankful for his foster mom, Sherry,
for taking such good care of him. Thank you Adopt-A-Pet for
all that you do to help animals. People like you make this world
a better place. Sincerely, Ryan, Tara and Tucker More pictures: 1 2 3 |

Pepper came to us over 2 years ago in August. Our first
test as a family was a 2 week camping vacation and Pepper did
perfect. It was then we knew she would be just like one of our
kid. On this trip we think Pepper had quite a few firsts...first
swim in the lake, first run in the woods, first raccoon sighting.
Since then she has become a regular outdoors dog (as long as
a family member is near by). She is quite a baby who always
wants to be were we are. She loves fetch and plays every morning
at the park. We had such a hard experience with our first attempt
at being dog parents that we were nervous to love another dog
but Pepper has made it so easy. She is such a wonderful pet
and companion. Thank you for taking the time to team us up with
such a great pet. -The Charlson Family |

We adopted "Claire" on Wednesday October 17th, 2007. We
brought her home with concerns that our older cat, Gladys, would
not take to the new kitten. We adopted Gladys from adopt a pet
about 3 years ago. Gladys was not happy for about the first
3 days but by Saturday she was giving Harriett baths. On Sunday
morning they were sleeping curled up together! Now Gladys has
a companion and is not alone so much. We could not be more pleased.
Thank-you all at Adopt-a pet for taking the time to talk with
me, listen and assist with my concerns. We love both our girls.

Finding Willy was truly an example of fate. My husband,
who rarely shops with me, joined me on my routine bi-weekly
Saturday shopping this past March, which included a stop for
dog food @ PETCO. Unbeknownst to me, it was Adopt-a-Pet day
and there were several dogs that caught our eye. At the time,
we had two dogs, Charlie - a Shepard/Doberman/lab cross - 7
years old and about 100 lbs. of baby, and, Buford, our purebred
Basset Hound - 5 years old. We had lost our dog, Serri -a Griffin/German
shorthair cross, a year ago at the age of 12. When we noticed
Willy, we noted that he had laid himself into the volunteer
who was handling him (a coworker of mine, Nicole) and noticed
the sweet, sad face. He was awfully thin, but was obviously
healthy. We sat down with him and it was instant love. When
the showing was about over, I said that I wanted to take him
home - on the spot- I did not want him to go back to the kennel.
But because Adopt-a-pet takes pet adoption seriously, I had
to wait for a volunteer to come to my home and interview my
family. Within hours of returning home, a volunteer, Barb called
and we spoke at great length. We made arrangements for her to
come out the next morning. After her interview and inspection
of our home, as well as meeting our other dogs, we went ahead
and filled out the paperwork. Within an hour, Willy was in his
forever home! He learned the routine of the other dogs almost
immediately and only had a few accidents indoors. He has brought
so much love and enjoyment, since, unlike our other dogs, is
extremely energetic and loves to fetch -for HOURS at a time.
He loves to cuddle and puts all of his weight into whoever is
paying attention to him. He fits into our family so well, that
while we shudder at what his past may have been like, we are
grateful that we found him. We have since rescued another dog
- a stray that wandered into our yard. When we tracked down
the owners, they did not want him, they were going to put him
down. Initially, I was going to work with AAP to try to find
this little boy a home, but fell in love in less than a week.
So now we have Hooper, a one-year old American Eskimo cross.
Four dogs....we love 'em all....they complete our family. Adopt-a-pet is my favorite charity and I advocate to others that dogs (and cats) that are in need of rescue, make the best pets. They know that they are lucky. To all those that read this, please be certain that you are ready to commit when you get a pet, which includes spaying and neutering. Go to local shelters, pounds and rescue agencies when you've made that decision. Chances are, you will get a "willy" good friend. |

This is Zinnia. We adopted her a couple of years ago (Fall
1995). I found her on-line and she is, hands (or paws) down,
the best thing I've ever found on the internet. Her name, when
we adopted her was Baby, and Natalie, her foster mother, did
an incredible job with this goofy, loving, fuzzy cat. We love
her. Our grandkids adore her. She is such an affectionate cat.
She loves attention, she loves being petted, she loves her daily
brushing. And she loves her baskets. We can't imagine what life
would be like without her so thanks to you all. -Donna |

My name is Hailey and I was adopted by my owners from you
in September of 2006. I would like to tell you how much my owners
love me as does my dog sister Morgan.
I would consider myself VERY spoiled. I sleep in bed with my
mom and dad. I get my own pillow and during the winter I like
to crawl under the covers. My owners tried to get me to sleep
on my dog bed but I prefer to sleep in the middle of them; I
think they sleep better with me there. I have found a new hobby
which is swimming at the lake. I am very fast and love to jump
off the dock and off the boat. I can even climb the ladder to
get myself back in!!!!! I love my tennis balls; I would call
myself obsessed with them. I get 2 in my mouth most of the time
and just like to lay with them in my mouth. Because I was becoming
so anxious about where the tennis balls were and who has them
the new rule is I can only have them outside. I get to pretty
much go where ever my owners go; I am very good in the car and
love going for rides. I still am a little nervous around other
dogs and will bark, growl and try to jump over the fence. I
think I am learning very slowly but I am learning I am definitely
much better than when I first came to my new home. I love my
new home and like I said before I know my owners love me. If
anyone has any questions about whether to adopt or not tell
them about me!!!!!! I am a huge success and have come so far
since my first days with my owners. Thanks adopt a pet for giving
me a second chance and for letting my owners adopt me. They
are so lucky. Also if you could thank my foster parents for
me that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Hailey |

It will be almost a year that Parker has been with us now.
He was a lively and friendly boy from the very first day that
we met him. He spent the majority of the past year in Fargo
making lots of friends and always finding a way to get muddy
at the dog park. He came to us already having a pretty good
handle on his basic commands and quickly picking up the "hi
five" gesture within the first few days we had him. Although
he’s a big boy, he loves to cuddle on the couch and watch T.V.
and snuggle in bed when the alarm goes off in the mornings.
He loves to play football, and has no hesitation taking you
down if you happen to get the ball away from him. He is a great
traveler, always excited to go for car rides and sleeping soundly
during long trips. He spent several long weekends in Montana
and most of the summer in Illinois. Today, Parker is living
happily in Oregon where he finally has a big fenced-in yard
to run and play in. He enjoys hiking and swimming, and runs
well on a leash while I rollerblade beside him. Thank you so
much adopt a pet, we couldn’t have found a more perfect match!
