Corki is a 1.5 year old female Pembroke Welsh Corgi. She is house trained and crate trained. She really enjoys being petted/cuddled and loves walks! She is a very affectionate dog.

She needs regular exercise and with her short little legs, a nice walk is great for her. She does have a rather petite frame for a corgi and currently weighs around 17-18 pounds.

Corgi's are herding dogs, so can have tendencies to try to "herd" you or other pets. She would be fine with children old enough to understand how to handle a dog and be the dog's leader. She does seem to think of herself as dominant, so her family will need to be strong leader's for her. Obediance training would be a great start for her.
In her foster home, she shares the house with 2 dogs (a young male Australian Cattle Dog mix and a young female Beagle who can also have dominant tendencies) and 2 female cats that don't react adversely to dogs. She occasionally gives chase to the 2 cats, but most of the time they can walk right by each other and be fine (the cats reaction influences Corki's action). She does fine with the 2 dogs most of the time, but has tried to dominate both of them. If she gets into that mindset, she doesn't retreat, so her owner will need to understand what scenarios can trigger her dominant behavior and how to handle it. In her foster home, we have noticed she can be dominant/territorial with the other dogs around her crate and food, and gets dominant with the dogs if in restricted space within the house. Other than that, she plays with the other dogs in the house and outside. We have never seen her exhibit the dominant behaviors outside with the other dogs, and in fact will roll on her back and maintain submissive positions when playing with the dogs.

She does great with people. We have had no problems taking away food, bones, toys, etc, nor have we had problems taking her out of her crate. She enjoys being close with her foster family.

Please stop by our adoption days to meet this wonderful little Corgi.
