Why I feel the need to write in after 13 years and say "Thank-You!" Well, my story starts back in October 2000, when my husband and I attend an adoption at Petco in Fargo and fell in love with a 5 week old rescue pup with a white heart on the top of her head. Her given name was Annie. In November, we brought her home for the first time at 8 weeks old and gave her the adoption name of Ellie-Mae. She was a blonde Beagle/Cocker Spaniel mix.
From November 28, 2000 Ellie was always "my" dog even though my husband and in the future kids would love her just as much. She followed me everywhere and fell alseep touching me each night. She loved kisses and the 2 hand belly rub. Ellie had been experiencing some medical issues since December 2012 and I had to take Ellie to the vet. I knew it wasn't going to be good and she went to doggie Heaven a month ago. I'm sad, even today but I thank you for every moment I had with my Ellie-Mae.
I could have never imagined my life without her now and all the wonderful memories she gave me. This was all thanks to Adopt-A-Pet of FM! Providing your services for these animals is nothing short of amazing! With your help I've had a great 13 year relationship with my Ellie and reaped all the benefits of a pet owner. You will forever have my appreciation, support and gratitude!

I want to thank adopt a pet for rescuing Abby (aka Olivia). She has been such a joy and has adapted well to her new family. She doesn't like being separated from her big sister Shelby and learns a lot from her. Abby is a huge cuddler which may be a problem when she is full grown since her favorite spot is behind us on the couch wrapped around our necks! We couldn't imagine life without her!

In January of 2011 we had to put down our precious mutt Kelly. We had her 13 years. It was a very difficult time for us. A few months passed and I realized just how much we enoyed having a dog as part of our family. In June we decided that we wanted another dog, and that we would adopt from a rescue. We found Nutmeg, she was a beauty and such a friendly face !! The first 3 to 5 months were rough. Having no idea where she had spent the previous 3 to 4 years of her life, training was difficult !! So here we are one year later. Nutmeg has improved allot on behavior, and we have her allergies under control. She is my buddy !! We are so happy to have her as part of our family !!

We have had an amazing experience with Adopt-a-pet. I grew up with dogs, and knew that I always wanted to have a companion in our home so we could enjoy the love of our furry friends and so my children could grow up learning to love them as well. We had our yellow lab for 3 years when tragedy struck, and we lost him. We decided to try a puppy one more time, and due to a freak accident. ended up losing him not even a year later. I was absolutely heart broken, and felt that maybe we just weren't cut out to have a dog. But something kept nagging at me to look into adoption, and that is where we found Brutus. I was very leery at first since we didn't know his background, and we have three small children at home. But I finally contacted his foster family, and as soon as we met him we knew we wanted him to be part of our family. His foster mother was SO supportive throughout the entire process, and genuinely cared not only about Brutus's
transition but also how the transition was for our family as well. He has become part of our family, another sibling for my children, another "baby" to my husband and I, and we couldn't imagine our lives without him. He has been such a blessing and we love him dearly, adoption was such an amazing experience and I tell everyone who I can to look into Adopt-a-Pet.

We adopted Bud, I don't know, 9 1/2 to 10 1/2 years ago and he has been the best dog ever. He is a Shepherd-Husky-Malamute-Elkhound. I am sure that anyone who worked there then would remember his soulful eyes. He has been loving and loyal and my great protector. Unfortunately he was diagnosed with lymphoma 1 1/2 weeks ago and even with medicine, since he's soooo old, he has gotten really bad really fast. Tomorrow morning we have to put this friend, constant companion, and member of our family to sleep. I've (Kristin) been wondering if I would go back and adopt him again with how hard this is. My answer is,"Yes!" I love him so much, I am heartbroken, BUT he has been more than worth it.

We adopted Colt in February 2009. I can't believe that we have had him for 3 years now! I knew that the same evening we had our "test" visit, that he was staying. He is so gentle with kids and small dogs, protects his house, loves to run, swim, go on long walks. His favorite activity is going to the dog park to play with all his friends. He has truly enriched our lives!

We adopted Millie (Lollie), a black lab mix, from Adopt-a-Pet in September 2009 when she was about 4 months old. We had been looking for a bit older dog but Millie had the best personality and we just knew she was
"the one". She fit into our family perfectly. She loves to ride in the car, play in the snow and catch Frisbees. In early 2011, we decided Millie needed a doggie friend and started looking at the Adopt-a-Pet website for another dog. When our family and Millie visited with an adorable, brown, curly-haired puppy, we again knew we had found our second dog. Roger (Reese), a Chesapeake/Golden mix, is a great addition to our family. He has a mellow personality and gets along with Millie great. We are so happy to have Millie and Roger in our family and we are very grateful to all the wonderful and dedicated people at Adopt-a-Pet for their assistance. Adopt-a-Pet is the best!thank you!!!
We adopted Tanner just a little over a year ago. When he first came to us he was afraid of all men, and was very shy. He now LOVES EVERYONE he comes in contact with, loves going for walks, being outdoors, chewing on any toy(or sock), and he LOVES to cuddle. Tanner is one of the most loveable, well-behaved dogs I have ever had. My husband and I are so happy that we decided to adopt him, and love having him part of our family!
I am sooooo
happy in my new home! Please spread the news! I wish more people would
adopt pets just like me. There are lots of pets waiting for good homes
where we can feel safe and loved. Puppies don't belong on the streets
looking for food and shelter. My mom lets me snuggle in close to her
at night. I feel so safe now! She takes me on walks, for rides to the
DQ for a bit of ice cream, and plays ball with me. I love to chase rabbits
and birds, and I love to try to catch fish. My mom brushes my curly
ears, brushes my teeth, gives me warm showers...but most of all she
just loves me! I'm so glad she picked me!
We adopted
Jack shortly after putting my dog of 14 1/2 years down. Jack helped
fill a hole that was left. Jack is quite the energetic little dog. He
was so happy to realize that we have a large yard for him to run in,
and he LOVES to run! We fell in love with this little guy pretty quickly
and the feeling seems mutual. We added one more rescue dog 5 months
after getting Jack, and these 2 have definately become brothers. Not
only do they have the same markings and coloring, they pick on each
other as only brothers do, yet love each other as only brothers can.
I wouldn't trade either of these boys in for anything. Thank you so
much for bringing Jack into our lives and opening our eyes to the beauty
of helping a rescue dog!
We adopted Emma in January of 2009. Even though she's missing an eye,
she gets around like any other dog. She's queen of the house and even
went on a family vacation to California. Here are pictures of her on
vacation and with Willy and Chey, two other Adopt-A-Pet friends. Willy
lives with our daughter in California, she was adopted 6 years ago and
Chey lives in Moorhead. Emma has been a great addition to our family.
We adopted Charlie when he was about 7 months old. He was very shy and
extremely submissive at first, especially around males. Over the past
three months he has become increasingly comfortable with males he has
met several times and continues to improve around strangers. He is such
a sweetheart, he loves to give kisses and cuddle on the couch. He has
become the perfect playmate for our 1 year old beagle. They immediately
took to each other and have become best friends. He loves to chew on
bones, play in the backyard with Ace, our Beagle, and cuddle on the
couch. He is quite the gentleman and everyone who meets him instantly
falls in love, his nickname is Mister because he is just so sweet and
gentle. Charlie had a problem with submissive urination when he first
came to us and has continuously improved over the past several months.
We absolutely adore him and he was the perfect addition to our family.
He is extremely loyal and protective of me and follows me almost everywhere
I go. I’m so glad that we took the time to find a dog that would fit
our lifestyle because Charlie is a perfect fit. He had brought a lot
of joy to our lives over the past three months and I couldn’t imagine
our family without him now. Thank you so much for bringing Charlie into
our life, we love him very much.
